Celtic Judoka had a big day the NYC Veterans Open in Queens NY. Bart Axelrod (3-2) was the star of the show, throwing 2X World Veterans Champion Doug Tono for ippon. Tono got the gold medal, winning their other two fights, but it was a signature win for Bart (Silver) in his pursuit of Shodan. Bill Langbauer (2-1) earned Gold with three tough matches, dropping down an age group to compete and punctuating his promotion to Shodan. Augie Carrillo (1-2) fought three dudes literally half his age and had one loud ippon to earn Bronze. Wayne Dickinson (2-0) took Gold in the M7 73kg category.Type your paragraph here.
